Weekend Art Projects (With a Three-Year-Old)

What do you do with your three-year-old niece on the weekend when her parents are working and daycare isn’t in session?
This is my nightmare. I love my niece to death, but she’s at the age where nothing can occupy her for more than two minutes. So, upon hearing I would be helping take care of her for a few days, I made a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a HUGE pack of construction paper, child-safe scissors (pink ones, of course), crayons, glue sticks, and a box of brownie mix.
Back at home, I sat her at the bar and gave her the art supplies to start with while I made brownies in the kitchen. Once in the oven, I joined her and decided to make a little project of my own as a surprise for her: a princess castle!

And inside is a princess’ room!

The arts and crafts projects kept my niece (and I!) occupied all evening. And after brownies and milk, it was time for bed. Day One of my weekend with Sparrow accomplished!
